Stefan Poag is going to illustrate and co-produce Pages From The Grimoire.

UZZAH! Can you believe it? I still can't. Stefan is absolutely my favorite artist in the OSR-scene, so I decided to get in touch with him a couple of days ago. I know he is currently involved in various projects, but actually decided to give it a try. And guess what? That guy's awesome. And really kind. We swapped some e-mails, and eventually decided to co-produce the 'zine, which is terrific. We have agreed that Stefan will receive no direction as to what to draw, and especially no limits in how to draw it, even if this will require an Explicit Content disclaimer somewhere. Terrific. And for those of you who happen to come from Barsoom, and have no idea of who this guy is, I suggest you check his awesome Aldeboran blog, his own delightful Endless Tunnels of Enlandin adventure at DF and, most of all, his amazing Exquisite Corpses monster book (worth every single cent, I guarantee.) And now, for no apparent reason, you get stubbed in your face by Meshuggah!

Pages From The Grimoire, Actual Contents

I'm working pretty fast on PFTG. I've decided to include some posts, exclude others, revise and partly re-write others. The first issue will revolve around my tiny cthulhoid sandbox, The Forbidden Isle of Doom. Aside from new classes, spells, artifacts, etc., it will include an extended version of The Forbidden Isle, featuring encounters, a complete adventure (Tower of the Re-Animator) and a starter (levels 1 to 3) for the Megadungeon beneath Kandahal. I will use Realms of Crawling Chaos as reference, but you won't really need that rulebook to play it. All in all, it is going to be awesome, I hope!

As per the art question: guys don't worry! I will create enough pieces of art to fill the entire fanzine. Also, sorry for the real crappy english, I slept 5 hours tonight and I'm still a bit numb.

I drew this during lunch break. Surprisingly, it took me no longer than an hour and a half to complete, and I can say that, despite random proportion and the fact that the left hand has definitely something wrong with it, it shows the idea. You may note the heavy influence that Stefan Poag's works have had on my style lately - still, far less disturbing to see, which is a shame! By the way, hope you enjoy it.

Pages From The Grimoire

Yo, looks like Austrodavicus found a better name for the 'zine! By the way, I would like to clarify my intentions. I don't want to produce something in the style of Oubliette or OD&DITIES: in such a case, I would rather collaborate with the awesome upcoming Jewel Throne! Instead, I want to make available a "summary" of my best articles. This kind of work would be worthwhile not only to the new readers of this blog, but also for me. Think about Dyson's Dodecaedron, only a little less frequent and a little bit bigger. You know, 40 digest sized pages are not that much: I'm doing some tests, and the three new classes alone cover about 10 pages even using a 9pt font. I'm glad for the appreciation you have shown in the comments of my last post, but I have to ask you to be patient until I find out if I have enough time and the desire to actually go ahead with the whole thing.

By the way guys, you're fantastic: I couldn't imagine myself blogging all that much without your great effort. Long live the Old School Revolution!
