SPFW: ALEXANDRE HERCHCOVITCH WINTER 2011

For the winter of 2011, Alexandre Herchcovitch abandoned all the vibrant colors that filled the summer shows and prefers to follow a darker palette with the full range of grays and blacks punctuated by yellow. Herchcovitch's inspiration came from the violent forces of nature such as volcanic rocks, magma and volcanoes. I loved the entire collection and my focus is mainly on extremely deconstructed pieces, and the mix of lace with a more austere figure was a touch of genius to give the femininity that the pieces needed, representing the magma pioneering the rocks.

Our favorite look was paraded by Luciana Curtis, consisting of a dress with volume at the shoulders and has leather straps that held the arms of model prisoners close to the body - the way, had seen something in the latest edition of ModaLisboa summer 2011, in the collection "ID-What is your identity?" of Portuguese designer Dino Alves, where the models came just arrested with arms at your sides. But despite the apparent deconstruction some pieces can easily be used in day-to-day, alone or mixed with basic and tailoring.

Para o inverno de 2011, Alexandre Herchcovitch abandonou todas as cores vibrantes que encheram dos desfiles de Verão e prefere seguir por uma paleta mais sombria com toda a gama de cinzas e pretos, pontuado pelo amarelo. Herchcovitch vai buscar a sua inspiração à força violenta da natureza, como as rochas vulcânicas, o magma e os vulcões. Adorei toda a colecção e o meu destaque vai sobretudo para as peças extremamente desconstruídas e a mistura das rendas com uma figura mais austera foi um toque de génio para dar a feminilidade que a peças precisavam, representando o magma abrindo caminho pelas rochas.

O nosso look favorito foi desfilado por Luciana Curtis, composto por um vestido com volumes nos ombros e alças com detalhes em couro que mantinham os braços da modelo presos rente ao corpo – Aliás, já tínhamos visto algo assim na última edição da ModaLisboa Verão 2011, na colecção “ID- Qual é a tua identidade?” do criador português Dino Alves. Mas, apesar da aparente desconstrução as peças podem perfeitamente ser usadas no dia-a-dia , sozinhas ou misturadas com básicos.

I felt in love with the work of the stylist Holly Suan Gray when I discovered her website and the amazing editorials in which she worked. Models are like nostalgic pretty dolls in dreaming fields that could be a city, ruins, factories or the beach.

Holly Suan Gray is a British born freelance stylist who has lived and worked in London, Tokyo, Beijing and Hong Kong. Now based in New York her clients included Diesel, Levis, UK Vogue, India Vogue, Oyster among others. Holly was nominated by i-D magazine as one of fashions 250 people to watch!

Apaixonei-me pelo trabalho de Holly Suan Gray quando descobri o seu website e os fantásticos editoriais em que ela trabalhou como stylist. As modelos são como nostálgicas bonecas de sonho fotografadas nos mais dispares ambientes como uma cidade, ruínas, fábricas, portos ou praias.

He felt he was that dented packing, tossing as useless garbage to pollute the mud, the mud of impure thoughts. He knew he had to make a bid to look beyond the muddy ground, and he couldn’t fall down in that deafening silence of the quiet day-no. A man is free only when he feels free, regardless of the rough walls, the square light or the fact that he doesn't want going there! The man is free only when he can decide where to go ... or not to go.

A man apart is a too easy target for a non-day, even if he felt himself a depressingly curious. So the man decided he had no way out, it was needed to look at where the birds hover and the clouds, full of gray light, were pretty like witches mounted on broomstick spells. And click click click click click click… the man fired. The man fired with the most compelling weapon in the world tuned by the skills and art of the gifted sniper. The man came back to shoot again and again… click click click ...He looked again, hitting the target, tuning the iris, imagining the perfect target in the brain and returned to shoot over and over again click click click.

The next day, and if there was a newspaper where fiction does not overtake reality, if there had been a serious journalist who objectified the facts without opinions and political-subjective arguments, it had been written "Man fires several times against the non-day with his camera… and killed it. Era um dia metido numa poça de água, e um homem a flutuar no pântano como uma embalagem vazia, sem consciência. Não sabia a razão daquele ser um dia-não, só era capaz de sentir essa angústia que como uma película de plástico finíssima o envolvia dos pés à cabeça. Era essa embalagem amolgada, arremessada e inútil, lixo a poluir a lama, a lama dos pensamentos impuros. Sabia que tinha de fazer um esforço para elevar o olhar para além do chão lamacento, não se deixar cair nessa inquietação quieta do silêncio ensurdecedor dos dias-não. Um homem só é livre quando se sente livre, independentemente das paredes rugosas, da luz aos quadradinhos ou do facto de não querer ir por ali! O homem só é livre quando pode decidir por onde ir... ou não ir.

Um homem aos pedaços é um alvo demasiado fácil para um dia-não, ainda que o homem se sinta depressivamente curioso! Assim, o homem decidiu que não tinha saída, era mesmo preciso colocar o olhar onde os pássaros pairam e as nuvens baixas carregadas de cinza e luz se parecem com bruxas montadas em vassouras mágicas. E clic clic clic… clic clic clic… o homem disparou. A arma mais convincente do mundo afiada pelo engenho e arte do atirador. O homem voltou a disparar clic clic clic… olhou de novo, acertou a mira, afinou a íris, imaginou no cérebro o alvo perfeito e voltou a disparar clic clic clic.

No dia seguinte e se houvesse um jornal onde a ficção não se sobrepusesse à realidade, se tivesse havido um jornalista sério que objectivasse os factos sem opiniões e acervos politico-subjectivos teria sido escrito "Homem dispara várias vezes contra o Dia-Não com a sua máquina fotográfica e mata-o. “

S.PAULO FASHION WEEK WINTER 2011 - REINALDO LOURENÇO

I have a great fascination about Brazilian fashion and in special S. Paulo Fashion Week, and I hardly wish to be there in the front row of my favorite designers... maybe some day! For now I would like to talk about Reinaldo Lourenço and his Winter 2011 collection which is a tribute to Couture. In fact, all the pieces are so well done and details are amazing. Reinaldo Lourenço gave us a reinterpretation of the old style in some details like the 40's stole used in the front of cocktail dresses and tuxedo's vest. A final note to the fantastic models entirely embroidered with pearls. Very well Mrs. Lourenço!

Tenho um grande fascínio acerca da moda brasileira e em especial pela Semana da Moda de S. Paulo onde eu desajaria árduamente estar agora, na fila da frente dos meus desfiles de eleição... talvez um dia! Por agora quero falar-vos da colecção Inverno 2011 de Reinaldo Lourenço que presta uma verdadeira homenagem à Alta Costura. De facto, todas as peças estão excelentemente bem confecionadas e os detalhes são extraordinários. Reinaldo Lourenço trouxe-nos uma reinterpretação de elementos old fashion como a estola tão popular nos anos 40 e 50 e que agora é usada na frente de vestidos de cocktail e em coletes de smoking. Uma nota final para os modelos inteiramente bordados a pérolas. Muito bem, Mrs. Lourenço!

I really loved the male fit mixed up with female details and sheer in the right places... This collection is a true lesson of sophisticated and hot style.

Adorei a mistura de formas masculinas com detalhes muito femininos como as transparências nos sítios certos... Esta colecção é uma verdadeira lição de sofisticação e estilios sensual.

SPFW: JULIANA JABOUR WINTER 2011

Juliana Jabour is one of my favorite Brazilian griffes that we can buy in Portugal. What fascinated me most was the brand’s investment in strong colors and the hot silhouette composed of mini-skirts and female volumes on top. In Winter 2011 collection, presented yesterday at S. Paulo Fashion Week, Juliana Jabour made a big turning in what was her dominant line, presenting us with a palette of muted colors and maxi-loop clothing drop over the body (except the mini dress used by actress Fernanda Lima). No less sexy and more contemporary, this collection very inspired in the '70s, fascinated me even more, plenty of the urban vibes and the "effortless" style of Alexa Chung.

Juliana Jabour é uma das minhas griffes brasileiras preferidas à venda em Portugal. O que mais me fascinou na marca foi a aposta em cores fortes e marcantes e a silhueta sensual composta de saias curtas e volumes femininos em cima. Nesta colecção Inverno 2011, apresentada ontem na Fashion Week de S. Paulo, Juliana Jabour fez uma grande inflexão naquilo que era a sua linha dominante, apresentando-nos uma paleta de cores sóbrias e roupa maxi em malha a cair pelo corpo (excepto o vestido mini usado pela actriz Fernanda Lima). Não menos sensual e muito mais contemporânea, esta colecção muito inspirada nos anos 70, fascinou-me ainda mais, a lembrar o estilo urbano e muito "effortless" (sem esforço) de Alexa Chung.
