Nonconformist Rei Kawakubo at her best with this Spring Summer 2011 collection showed about one hour ago in Paris. With upside jackets which turned skirts, asymmetric coats, siamese models arrested by a third dress, from the magic to the macabre, each Comme des Garçons show was a lesson about another vision of fashion which will become fashion trends in a nearest future.

PEDRO LOURENÇO SPRING SUMMER 2011

 

 

 

Pedro Lourenço is a Brazilian designer with nineteen years old and this is his second show at Paris. In this Spring Summer 2011 collection it is clear his influences by Calvin Klein's Francisco Costa or Courrèges and Nicolas Ghesquière's work at Balenciaga. The designer continued to work almost exclusively with leather, but lightened it up by piecing the material in sharply geometric shapes on the body with nearly invisible tulle.With sharply geometric color blocks and textures, there was a distinctly futuristic vibes in Pedro Lourenço's designs that I loved. But the rigorous architectural construction of his pieces could  be a problem about wearability to make the transition from runway to street.

JUNYA WATANABE AND MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA SPRING SUMMER 2011

There are some catwalks inspired by controversy, Junya Watanabe and Maison Martin Margiela are two of them which use to surprise us with their different point of view about fashion.

Watanabe dressed the faceless models with navy icons and blue navy stripes like fashionist sailors with almost nothing to do with glamor or seductive clothes which with we use to connected with fashion shows.

 

Maison Martin Margiela SS 2011 collection

Maison Martin Margiela finished the show with an entire front of a beaded dress stretched over a rectangular piece of plastic extending from the model's shoulders to the floor, while the back of the gown was stretched across her form. The model before last might've had it toughest, though, her arms trapped at her sides between two wrinkled layers of what could have been patent leather. It looked like she'd been vacuum-packed into a Hefty garbage bag.

Certainly another unique vision what fashion could be and the shows  could be also a free space to challenge the values of the fashion world.

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD SPRING SUMMER 2011

 

How can the "Grand Dame" be always so inventive, innovative and other "ive" we can say about Lady Vivienne Westwood!

You may not love the natural Westwood territory between performer punks and playful British icons but we must say that the designer is always at her best when she fondly plays with her isle's cliques and classes and refashions them in her own distinctive style. Once again it happened in this Spring Summer 2011 collection.

LAVIN SPRING SUMMER 2011

I really love Lavin and Alber Elbaz is one of my fashion idols so it's no surprise by me the amazing collection which was showed today in Paris' catwalk. I loved, loved, loved the color palette, the mixed of ashy gray and brown sounds to me always as a symbol of unexpected elegance.   

 

 

 

 

This is another invective collection by genius Alber Elbaz, charming fluttering pieces of art. Certainly the designer really knows what do women want? And women want to be always elegant, comfortable, pieces which are wearable and easily turning day to night at a time when women are still relearning how to shop. Congratulations LAVIN; Well done Alber Elbaz, once again!

CHRISTIAN DIOR SPRING SUMMER 2011 WOMENSWEAR

 

Galliano Just brought back color to Paris catwalk! The Dior spring summer 2011 collection was inspired by sailors, fifties and fifties pin-up girl Betty Page. The result was colorful, feminine, light and a lovely mix of sailor and elegance.It's probably not a surprise because this is so Galliano's galaxy but it was fresh and funny and some pieces are really gorgeous and couture done.
