LAVIN SPRING SUMMER 2011

I really love Lavin and Alber Elbaz is one of my fashion idols so it's no surprise by me the amazing collection which was showed today in Paris' catwalk. I loved, loved, loved the color palette, the mixed of ashy gray and brown sounds to me always as a symbol of unexpected elegance.   

 

 

 

 

This is another invective collection by genius Alber Elbaz, charming fluttering pieces of art. Certainly the designer really knows what do women want? And women want to be always elegant, comfortable, pieces which are wearable and easily turning day to night at a time when women are still relearning how to shop. Congratulations LAVIN; Well done Alber Elbaz, once again!

CHRISTIAN DIOR SPRING SUMMER 2011 WOMENSWEAR

 

Galliano Just brought back color to Paris catwalk! The Dior spring summer 2011 collection was inspired by sailors, fifties and fifties pin-up girl Betty Page. The result was colorful, feminine, light and a lovely mix of sailor and elegance.It's probably not a surprise because this is so Galliano's galaxy but it was fresh and funny and some pieces are really gorgeous and couture done.

PARIS FASHION WEEK: BALENCIAGA SPRING SUMMER 2011

NICOLAS GHESQUIERE swapped the showroom for the HotelCrillon this morning to present his spring/summer 2011 collection for the houseof Balenciaga. I really loved all the fresh and unique look that Ghesquiere hasabout fashion and this collection proved that. He doesn’t follow trends or aesthetics,he created them!

The Spring Summer 2011 collection has the designer’ssignature futurism with rockabilly sartorial sensibilities, and the show hadthe fashion’s finest faces: Stella Tennant, Amber Valletta, Freja Beha Erichsenand Gisele.

Fortunately we saw none of the whimsical gypsy dresses we’vebeen seeing so far for summer (even if I love bohemian style I was afraid therewill be nothing more!!!). Ghesquière had played with the idea of shimmer,iridescence, reflection and refraction in amazing argyle-print sequin dressesbut what I loved to die were hoof-like and six-inch-high shoes that boastedbeaded fringing around the ankle and the bright fluoros combined with urbanblack leather.

PARIS FASHION WEEK: BALMAIN SPRING SUMMER 2011

For you make NO mistake: I love Balmain ( with Decarnin on charge)! I really love rocker chic! I love leather jeans and distressed t-shirts, I loooveeed biker jackets as the way Christophe Decarnin does it . But I must confessed that I had a little hope that today afternoon show at the Grand Hotel, Paris, something different could happen! But it didn't. He repeated the (good and very commercial indeed) formula once again. 

 

To the sounds of the Sex Pistols in the background, out came the supplest of leather biker jackets, jeans with washed and crushed finishes - studded with rivets and safety pins - in either classic black or the red, T-shirts worn with denim hot pants, white and blue colours of the American flag.

The looks were well done and the silver and sequin jeans, outsize tux jackets and pinned raw hide bustier tops to boot were really amazing, but I would like something... different! Sorry!

1950s Heartthrob Tony Curtis has died.

He was 85.

He passed away at his Las Vegas area house of a cardiac arrest.

He appeared in such movies as Sweet Smell of Success and Some Like It Hot. He earned an Oscar nod for 1958's The Defiant Ones.

His 1st wife was Psycho star Janet Leigh; actress Jamie Leigh Curtis is their daughter.

After retiring from film and battling drug and alcohol abuse, he turned to painting (some of his canvasses sold for as much as $20,000) later in his life.

"I am not ready to settle down like an elderly Jewish gentleman, sitting on a bench and leaning on a cane," he said at 60. "I have got a helluva lot of living to do."
