New York City will celebrate of the Yankees' 27th World Series title with a parade Friday up Broadway.

The New York Yankees win the 2009 World Series thanks to a 7-3 victory over last year's champions, the Philadelphia Phillies, in Game 6 of the Fall Classic to take the series 4-2.

And in true New York fashion, they won by jumping out to an early lead with the long ball.

Hideki Matsui, who was named the World Series MVP, took Phillies starter Pedro Martinez deep in the 2nd inning with a runner on to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead. Matsui would added four more RBI's in the game as he drove in six of the Yankees seven runs on the night.

In the meantime, the Phillies couldn't get much going off of traditional big-game pitcher Andy Pettitte. He went 5 2/3 innings, giving up three earned runs and striking out three.

Mariano Rivera into the game with one out in the 8th inning and slammed the door shut on Philadelphia's season. The final out came on a Shane Victorino grounder to Robinson Cano.

The Yankees have now won 27 World Series championships, most of any team in baseball. It's their first title since 2000, when they defeated the New York Mets in five games to win the last of three consecutive championships and four in five years.

This is the first championship for some notable members of the Yankees, including Alex Rodriguez, CC Sabathia, and Mark Teixeira.

The Yankees have been scrutinized all season long for the amount of money they spent on players in the offseason to bolster their roster. New York spent almost half a billion dollars on new additions last winter, including $423.5 million on three players: Sabathia, Teixeira, and A.J. Burnett.

Regardless, the Yankees are World Champions once again and are the envy of baseball. But can the Yankees put the pieces together again this offseason and begin building another dynasty?
